A Place to Call Home

Huskies Helping Huskies is a small organization, but with the help of the CMS community, we are making a big difference in the lives of CMS families in urgent need. While we are focused on assisting with school supplies, toiletries, and groceries, we are occasionally called on to help with bigger needs…even homelessness.

Early in the school year, a CMS student and family found themselves without a place to live. The student, two siblings, and their mom were secretly living at the mom’s place of employment, blowing up mattresses each night and packing them away every morning so that the building’s landlord didn’t see how they were living.

The mom was close to saving enough for an apartment, but when heavy rains caused the ceiling to collapse, the family had no choice but to relocate to a hotel. She spent her savings on the hotel while the building was repaired. They soon found themselves back at her place of employment and starting from square one.

Now, after an income tax refund and some help from HHH, the family has moved into an apartment after five months of homelessness. They are extremely grateful to HHH and our donors who have turned their compassion for this family into action.

Can you do the same and help us support CMS families in urgent need? We accept donations via PayPal and Venmo. Cash donations are applied to the current fundraising drive, which for March, is Spring Break Staycation--a collection to help meet students’ needs over the break.

Thank you for being a part of our community.
